A deceased estate’s status can be checked through the Department of Justice’s online systems, the executor or administrator, and the relevant Master’s Office.

The ICMS Master’s Office Web Portal provides a public deceased estate search using information recorded by the Master’s Offices from 2008 onward. The Department of Justice’s separate online deceased estate system also provides registration and status tracking functionality for registered users.

For a beneficiary, the executor or estate administrator should usually be the first source of a meaningful progress update because a portal status does not always explain what is still outstanding. Once a Liquidation and Distribution account has been lodged and is open for inspection, interested persons may inspect the account in accordance with section 35 of the Administration of Estates Act.

Because online systems and available status fields change, WLG’s website should link to the current Master of the High Court Online Portals page rather than reproduce detailed step-by-step portal instructions that can become outdated.
